Our Caring Professionals Experts in compassionate care
Hospice of Broward County's professionals come from a wide range of specialities and disciplines. Our caring professionals work with the patient and family to do whatever it takes to deliver compassionate care when you need it most.
Our Caring Professionals Include:
Physicians
The Hospice Medical Director and Associate Medical Directors are available to provide consultation to patients and/or the patient's personal physician. They work with their professional hospice peers to ensure patients' wishes are being met. Our physicians will come to you wherever you reside.
Pharmacists
For your convenience, Hospice of Palm Beach County and Hospice of Broward County have an in-house pharmacy. We can manage the prescription process for you; our hospice nurses and physicians will discuss your hospice care medications with the pharmacist and can even have the medications delivered to you.
Nurses
Our Registered Nurses coordinate all services for our patients. They assess patient health, administer medications, and evaluate the patient's response to the plan of care. Our nurses also work with the physician to determine if a patient and family could benefit from emotional support or spiritual support, and will coordinate those services if desired by the patient and their family.
Certified Nursing Assistants
If you or your loved one needs assistance with routine care, our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are available as needed to provide personal care. These services include giving showers or baths, providing skin care and helping with personal hygiene.
Medical Social Workers
Our Medical Social Workers are licensed by the State of Florida to assist you and your family with emotional support. Whether your family lives locally, or are long distance caregivers, social workers engage with the family to bring them together emotionally. They will assist with living wills, the 5 Wishes Advance Directive, do not resuscitate orders and healthcare surrogate information.
Chaplains
Hospice chaplains coordinate the spiritual aspect of hospice care. They work with your local pastor or rabbi, or will act in that capacity for you. Our chaplains respect all cultural and religious traditions. The goal is to provide care that meets the patient's spiritual needs, as requested by the patient and family.
Music Therapists
As a recognized health profession, our certified music therapists visit the patient wherever they reside to create a therapeutic bond for the patient.
Integrative Therapists
Integrative Therapy is a term used to describe non-medical therapies. These therapies provide for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient by engaging their senses. Examples of integrative therapies include palliative massage, aromatherapy, Reiki, relaxation training, and imagery work.
Volunteers
We are fortunate to have wonderful volunteers dedicated to assist patients and families in a variety of ways. Volunteers may give of their time by staying with patients to provide a break for family caregivers, running short errands for patients, or grocery shopping for the family, for instance.
Bereavement Counselors
Whether or not you use Hospice of Broward County for your hospice services, our bereavement counselors are there to help you. Hospice Bereavement Counselors offer family support designed to serve the emotional needs of the surviving family members.
Our caring professionals have one goal in mind, which is to do whatever it takes, regardless of time or costs, to meet you or your family’s needs. Let our family help your family.
